We can provide tailor made Forest School, Outdoor learning and Skogsmulle experiences with highly qualified, skilled and experienced staff members in your setting, local woodland/park or at Lynwood.

We can follow a topic, theme or learning outcome that you desire, or let the children choose their learning path with us…pirates, archaeologists, explorers, artists, chefs…

We provide all the tools, equipment and resources.  We plan high quality experiences, prepare resources, set up the area and pack up the area.  All of which is included at no extra cost.

All our staff have DBS checks and certificates/experience relevant to what they are delivering as well as Basic Food Hygiene, Safeguarding training and Outdoor First Aid.

We can come for one off sessions, end of term treat days or a whole block of sessions. Twilight (evening and weekend) can be provided for staff.  We can work with small groups or larger groups (children, parents or teachers).  We can support in early years right through to secondary school and adult/higher education.

We can provide advice, support and the labour to develop your own outdoor provision.  We love mud kitchens and loose parts, we also have staff experienced with gardening, growing and willow weaving/structures.

You don’t need 20 acres of ancient woodland to run Forest School sessions…

A playground, field, forest, wood, meadow, park, hill top, garden… no matter how big or small your space it can be done ANYWHERE!  We can support you in risk assessing areas you plan to use and its suitability.   We can work with you to develop your very own on site Forest School whatever the scale.

So what is Forest Schools?

It is a difficult thing to put into words, it’s an experience, a feeling, inspirational, a process that’s not always easily vocalised or written down; but I’ve had a go…

Forest Schooling is primarily an ethos followed by many educators across the globe, originating in Germany and Scandinavia.

Learning through positive outdoor real experiences!

Forest school is most benefitted from as a long term process where participants acquire skills for life in a familiar outdoor setting through motivating and challenging activity in all types of weather.

Children will learn how to manage and assess risks, be knowledgeable about nature and the environment, good communication skills, problem solving, rules and boundaries, independence, creativity, social skills, self-esteem the list goes on…..

There are many child development theories that have developed over the years including Schemas by Piaget, Loose Parts by Nicholson and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs all of which plus many more are supported by Forest School sessions.

Workshop days

We also run workshop sessions from our own site at Lynwood Gardens, these are great for CPD and usually run in the school holidays. The last one we ran was ‘Experience an Outdoor Kindergarten’ in the summer.  We covered our general set up, what we do and why, we learnt new songs, explored natural movements, cooked on the fire, followed trails and got crafty.  We may also run themed ones relating to letters and sounds/phonics, outdoor maths etc.  Please get in touch if you've got a suggestion!

We are a not for profit social enterprise which helps us to make Forest School Experiences, outdoor learning and Skogsmulle available to everyone.  We want as many children as possible to access learning in nature because we think it is extremely valuable.  We will therefor pledge to try our very best to accommodate every budget.  You tell us your budget and we will work to it.  And if it's just a quick sneaky peek at what we do you are after then you can book in a 'proffesional visit' with a suggested donation of £20 per hour to help us cover costs of a team member showing you round and having a chat, you can even bring a few collegagues for the same price.  Please phone or email us to discuss your ideas, needs and questions further…
